First of all I apologise right away for bombarding you with bulletins this week. I'm changing our system so that you have advance notice of our workshops, and this week seemed like the best time to change, because it meant I could wish you Happy Easter as well.
I'm not a religious person, but I really enjoy hiding and hunting for Easter eggs and seeing the new-born lambs. A 'Poem on the Tube' (A Prehistoric Camp by Andrew Young) which I saw last week described what I love as:
Pale lambs leap with thick leggings on which I felt fitted the bill just perfectly.
Next week's workshop is about writing and thinking - two of my favourite activities. It's about writing headlines for yourself that will change the way you view your goals - and your life. When writing the workshop I wrote a fun headline for Life Clubs:
Life Clubs working flat out to meet demand for new clubs. And that's happening.
We've got a wonderful full club in Westminster (always room for a few more if you'd like to squish in) and are opening more in London.
So come along next week and write a headline so you can star in your own life.
What headline would you like for today?

This week's workshop is a Life Club's classic on decluttering and it's very well timed because I stayed this weekend with a friend who redefines decluttered. Everything he owns is neatly tidied away and labelled and minimal and, as a result, his home is sparse, but extremely restful. I've caught up on my sleep, written a chapter of one of my new books and read the first part of Jude the Obscure - my fifth consecutive Hardy (yes, I'm addicted).
On the first night my brain still felt a little cluttered and I woke in the middle of the night to write all my thoughts down and organise them, but after that, even it has been under control. So, for all of you who are struggling with order, I thoroughly recommend this week's workshop, Creating Space.
Another thing I thoroughly recommend is that you let any friends who live in Brighton, Bath and West London know that we'll be starting Life Clubs in those three places in about 3 weeks. And that the first month's membership fee (£10) is free - a significant saving. All three ladies hosting the clubs are wonderful and your friends (or you, if you live around there) will have many great nights out.
Hope you caught us in The Times on Saturday and a lovely review in the Evening Standard last Tuesday as well.
What would you have to do to create order in your life? And how would it feel once done?

I've been in a place of fear about sending out my bulletin. So many of you came up to me at One Life Exhibition and told me how much you enjoyed receiving it that I was suddenly frozen (call it writer's block if you like) and felt I'd never be able to write anything again that you'd like. So, forgive my silence - especially as last week's workshop about time management is one of my favourites and I wanted to tell you all about it - and let's just say that this week at Life Clubs we're overcoming fear (From Fright to Delight workshop) and (phew) isn't that a good thing. Fear can really creep in at all sorts of unexpected times and just stop you. It can even be about something silly - like which day of the week is going to be the best day for you to receive this. Now, you may well ask, how can that little, unobtrusive thought put me into a state of paralysis??? I don't know either, but it did.
One Life Exhibition was great fun. We produced four different stickers: Love More, Earn More, Laugh More and Play More which were worn around the whole of Olympia. Guess which ones were the most popular? (Answers below). Everyone wore them as their affirmation for the day and it worked wonderfully. Each time we looked round as we heard someone laughing loudly, they had one of our 'Laugh More' stickers on (see blog for pictures - and of Paddington Bear wearing his).
What's your affirmation for the day: love more? earn more? laugh more? or play more? And what result do you want from it?

Canada was truly fascinating. I've come back having learnt a lot, feeling humble about myself and living in a country with such moderate temperatures compared to the extremes they face over there and feeling proud that Life Clubs is now global. One of the things I learnt is that bulletins are better received if they arrive on a Tuesday (rather than on a busy Monday), so I'm going to give it a go. Do let me know if you agree.
This week is the One Life Live Exhibition and I'll be speaking at it on all three days. (If you book online, tickets are £14 or £16 at the door). On Friday I'm talking about How to Make Every Minute Count at 4pm in the 'Be Your Own Boss' theatre and on Saturday and Sunday I'm talking in the massive 'Life Change Theatre' on Create Your Ideal Life (Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 4pm). If you're there, do come along and watch or help us give out folders (or both) - that would be much appreciated.
This week's workshop is called A New Way Of Thinking, which is what I feel I need right now if I'm going to talk to hundreds of people in a few days time. It's about changing the beliefs we all have about ourselves (eg I can't speak in public) and the world (eg no-one is going to want to listen to me). We want to open your mind to possibilities (eg I'm a great public speaker) without having to go to Canada. So, let's start by flipping it around:
What's one thing about yourself you wouldn't want to change about yourself? And why?

Posted by: nina
I'm sitting in Canada (minus 15 degrees) in the home of a lovely family who I met yesterday about to train six lovely people to start Life Clubs in Canada and wondering what home means to me. One of the things I've realised is how 'home' my laptop is. Opening it to write my workshop for the One Life show I felt a rush of comfort and familiarity. That definitely felt like home. Being in the bath here (although it's a jacuzzi and not at all like my tub at home) also feels like 'home' and getting immersed in my book is home too. Where is home for you? That's what we'll be thinking about in this week's Life Club. I hope you can join us.
We were thrilled with your response for tickets to One Life. Genevieve will be in touch with you soon. I'll be on the main stage on Saturday and Sunday late afternoon and our stand will be there on all three days, so do come along and say 'hello'.
I'm now off to an International Woman's Day party here in Burlington, Ontario. Yes, we are truly international.

I'm not even sure how you think you could be successful now if you aren't coming along to our Innovation workshop on 28th February (10.00-4.30pm in Westminster, Central London). The workshop is being run by Ruth Needham - the most incredible host, both inspirational and warm. If I wasn't going to be in Canada, I'd be there. This workshop will inspire you to get creative and, in my mind, that's the first step to being successful. It's £75 for the day and you can book via the front page of our website.
I am feeling a little successful today. My husband (my most critical judge) gave me the thumbs up on my blog. So, not only did I finish it, but I also realised how important praise, from someone I rated, was to me. That's a triple success - learning about yourself, accomplishing something and noticing that you've accomplished it.
This week's workshop is great fun. It's a perspectives workshop - how can you find the 'successful you' within and use that success on the rest of your life? Come along and find out.
Think about something that didn't go as well for you as you'd wanted it to. What did you learn from the outcome?

09 Feb 2009 12:20 Lightbulb moment - What's important to you?

Believe you me, this weekend has had me in total knots. I have so many things to do that I really don't know what to do first. Prepare for our launch in Canada? Start writing my book? Catch up with the week's work (having lost a bit of time on snowy Monday)? Or, it's the weekend after all, hang out with my kids? If you want to see what advice my son gave me, check out my blog. Otherwise I can tell you, I did all the fiddly, non-creative things first to give me some space to work on the creative stuff later. But I hate having to make decisions. Luckily this week's workshop will sort me out and stop me asking my husband 'What would you do if you were me?'
What could you achieve if you knew what was important?

We've just had incredible research done on Life Clubs by Charlotte Style, a Positive Psychologist at the University of East London (thanks to all of you involved). The results showed that Life Clubs make people happier, more hopeful and more confident. I'll tell you more about it in a few weeks, but it's great research and very exciting.
This week's workshop, Mirror, Mirror is a great start to all that happiness, hopefulness and confidence. It's all about making a list of your qualities which sounds difficult, but there's a trick which makes it incredibly easy - and incredibly illuminating. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and get a lot out of it. If you'd like a little fairy story on mirrors, have a look at my blog.
Our next Resilience workshop on 28th February (10.00-4.30pm in Westminster, Central London) is about Innovation and coming up with your own ideas for the future which will again make you happier, more hopeful and more confident. You'll learn all about creativity - how to make space for it, how to find new and different ways of thinking creatively and how to get new perspectives for your future. It's £75 for the day and you can book via the front page of our website.
What qualities would you like to discover in yourself?

28 Jan 2009 12:35 Lightbulb moment - What motivates you?

I'm so sorry that this bulletin is late, but I'm (and this sounds wonderfully showy-offy) on a TV series (The Afternoon Show) in Ireland making two people (and the audience) happier. It's great fun, but it does mean that I'm not at my desk sending out this bulletin on time.
However, I am motivated to keep sending them and that's what we'll be thinking about this week at Life Clubs - motivation, yours as well as mine.
On Saturday I ran my first Resilience workshop - this one was on motivation - and one of the participants came up with this great quote "faffing about is exhausting". And, yes it is. And yet we do it so often because we're just not feeling motivated enough to do anything else.
Another participant at the workshop said that he was motivated by "being depended on" and his wife, who was also there, said she was motivated by "passion". What was interesting was that I think if I'd asked them the same question at the start of the workshop they would both have said the opposite.
The workshop was a success, so I'm encouraging you to book now for the second Resilience workshop on 28th February (also in Westminster, Central London) on Innovation. It's all about making space for creativity, finding new and different ways of thinking creatively and getting perspectives for the future. It's £75 for the day and you can book via the front page of our website.
For further motivational thoughts, have a look at my blog.
So what motivates you? What would your motivational toolkit have in it?
