We had a happy Me Day here at Base Camp. If you'd like to see pictures, have a look at our blog. The workshop was a great success, someone came to my club last week grinning from ear to ear having just done it. I'm thrilled. Do send us your photos or thoughts too.
This week at Life Clubs (like the rest of the world) we're thinking about money. Not global crises, you understand, but what money means to us. We're going to inspire you to become financially savvy (essential right now) and to work out what you really want from your money. It's a great subject - until recently even more taboo than sex.
A story a friend once told me, has had a big impact on me, and I thought I'd like to share it. This friend was running a successful agency but was worried about what she should be doing with all the money she was making. Her accountant didn't seem to be proactive either and so she asked a friend of hers who was even more successful than she was for advice. Somewhat brutally he replied 'If you don't know what to do with your money you shouldn't be running a business'.
What are you making money for?
After this week's Life Club you'll know the answer to that question and lots more. For both the financially astute and those interested in the subject - aren't we all?

I hope you all had a Happy Me Day yesterday. If you missed it, the Me Day workshop is still downloadable on our frontpage until Wednesday.
My 9-year old decided very diplomatically that we all choose one treat for the day. His was (a slight compromise as the real treat he wanted would have involved spending money) to watch an episode of The Simpsons with me and mine was to finish Tess of the D'Urbervilles before the final episode appeared on television. What a great book - my Hardy obsession is not yet over. And what also made my day happy was a wonderful article mentioning us in The Independent on Sunday.
This week at Life Clubs we're running our classic decluttering workshop. Don't tell me you haven't anything you want to get rid of. I want to lose a few inches around my waist, the papers on my desk, my e-mail collection, half my cookbooks... need I go on.
I find it, as you will see in the article, very difficult to tackle large tasks (no, let's call them 'projects', that makes them sounds less like duty and more fun). It's starting them that's the problem. I have both a desire to do the project perfectly and a fear of it taking up too much time. I'm also, needless to say, rebellious and so my initial feeling is that I don't want to do it. Tidying my desk was going to make yesterday happier, but it felt overwhelming, so it's still here today in all its chaos.
I know I'll get a move on after today's workshop.
Really imagine how you would feel if you rid yourself of the clutter that is most holding you back. Now, using that feeling, start tidying.
After this week's Life Club you'll feel lighter, freer and ready to bring something new into your life.

I've always been nervous about parties and whether someone will talk to me or not. Am I fun enough, am I relaxed enough and, yes, even, am I attractive enough? In jobs too, there's always been that feeling of whether I'm good enough or if I am going to be found out and seen as a fraud.
And I know I'm not the only one who feels like this.
This weekend was quite a trial for my teenage daughter as the two of us went shopping down the High Street and bumped into scores of her friends. I could see she desperately wanted to be with them but she was with me and how would she handle a situation like that. How to look cool with Mummy in tow.
One way or the other we're always selling ourselves.
This week's Life Club will turn presenting yourself work-wise and socially into a fun game. You'll realise (without even trying), just how good you are at it.
And, a reminder of another potential party, Me Day - only this one's good because you're in charge. Me Day is next Sunday and there's a free workshop for you to print out and enjoy on the welcome page of our website plus a quiz you'll have fun filling in on your Me Day party invitation. Do remember to send in photos of you and your Me Day party or with your Happy Me Day card for our blog.
If you knew you were magnetically charismatic, how would you behave at parties and interviews?
At this week's Life Club you'll be selling yourself left, right and centre and enjoying it.

Yes, I know I mentioned Me Day to you last week, but I wanted to check that you knew there was a free workshop for you to print out and enjoy on the welcome page of our website plus a quiz you'll have fun filling in on your Me Day party invitation.
I'm also telling you again, because we're thrilled with Me Day and how being selfish for a day may affect you and, in turn, everyone around you. We believe that if everyone celebrated Me Day, the world would be a happier place on September 21st.
This week's Life Clubs workshop is about discovering the balance you want in your life - and maybe that's being selfish too. So many people come to Life Clubs because they've realised they're spending way too much time at work - they come to rebalance their lives. But finding your perfect balance is a process you can actually do a week at a time - or even a day at a time. Once we've shown you how, there'll be no stopping you.
If you gave yourself permission to be totally selfish, how would you feel afterwards?
At this week's Life Club we'll be finding you a balance that will make you feel... whatever you want it to - you decide!

01 Sep 2008 10:45 Lightbulb moment - Choosing your perspective
Posted by: nina
We've created something at Life Clubs that we're proud of.
It's called Me Day and it's on Sunday 21st September and we've put lots of fun, free things on our website for you to celebrate it with and we're telling you way in advance to give you time to get organised.
Me Day was sparked off by my daughter saying, one Father's Day, "It's not fair. Why isn't there a day for me - I'm not a mother or a father and I'm too young to have a Valentine". I wanted to create a day for her and really for all of us. Birthdays are often so filled with things you have to do - Me Day can be filled with things you want to do.
You can choose to enjoy Me Day loudly - hold a party, invite some of your friends and family with our specially designed invitations and use our Happy Me Day workshop with all of them or you can just print out your own Happy Me Day card and workshop and celebrate Me Day quietly and thoughtfully. All are available to download on our website front page.
Me Day sums up Life Clubs, because we believe that spending time on you is important and leads you into a calm way of thinking and being and yet others might call it selfish, which leads us nicely into this week's workshop topic, perspectives.
Whose perspective would you like to think about a particular problem you've got with? And why?
At this week's Life Club we'll be finding you a perspective that will change your way of looking at the world.
