30 Mar 2009 10:40 Lightbulb moment - Overcoming fear
Posted by: nina
I've been in a place of fear about sending out my bulletin. So many of you came up to me at One Life Exhibition and told me how much you enjoyed receiving it that I was suddenly frozen (call it writer's block if you like) and felt I'd never be able to write anything again that you'd like. So, forgive my silence - especially as last week's workshop about time management is one of my favourites and I wanted to tell you all about it - and let's just say that this week at Life Clubs we're overcoming fear (From Fright to Delight workshop) and (phew) isn't that a good thing. Fear can really creep in at all sorts of unexpected times and just stop you. It can even be about something silly - like which day of the week is going to be the best day for you to receive this. Now, you may well ask, how can that little, unobtrusive thought put me into a state of paralysis??? I don't know either, but it did.

One Life Exhibition was great fun. We produced four different stickers: Love More, Earn More, Laugh More and Play More which were worn around the whole of Olympia. Guess which ones were the most popular? (Answers below). Everyone wore them as their affirmation for the day and it worked wonderfully. Each time we looked round as we heard someone laughing loudly, they had one of our 'Laugh More' stickers on (see blog for pictures - and of Paddington Bear wearing his).

What's your affirmation for the day: love more? earn more? laugh more? or play more? And what result do you want from it?

Canada was truly fascinating. I've come back having learnt a lot, feeling humble about myself and living in a country with such moderate temperatures compared to the extremes they face over there and feeling proud that Life Clubs is now global. One of the things I learnt is that bulletins are better received if they arrive on a Tuesday (rather than on a busy Monday), so I'm going to give it a go. Do let me know if you agree.

This week is the One Life Live Exhibition and I'll be speaking at it on all three days. (If you book online, tickets are £14 or £16 at the door). On Friday I'm talking about How to Make Every Minute Count at 4pm in the 'Be Your Own Boss' theatre and on Saturday and Sunday I'm talking in the massive 'Life Change Theatre' on Create Your Ideal Life (Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 4pm). If you're there, do come along and watch or help us give out folders (or both) - that would be much appreciated.

This week's workshop is called A New Way Of Thinking, which is what I feel I need right now if I'm going to talk to hundreds of people in a few days time. It's about changing the beliefs we all have about ourselves (eg I can't speak in public) and the world (eg no-one is going to want to listen to me). We want to open your mind to possibilities (eg I'm a great public speaker) without having to go to Canada. So, let's start by flipping it around:

What's one thing about yourself you wouldn't want to change about yourself? And why?

I'm sitting in Canada (minus 15 degrees) in the home of a lovely family who I met yesterday about to train six lovely people to start Life Clubs in Canada and wondering what home means to me. One of the things I've realised is how 'home' my laptop is. Opening it to write my workshop for the One Life show I felt a rush of comfort and familiarity. That definitely felt like home. Being in the bath here (although it's a jacuzzi and not at all like my tub at home) also feels like 'home' and getting immersed in my book is home too. Where is home for you? That's what we'll be thinking about in this week's Life Club. I hope you can join us.

We were thrilled with your response for tickets to One Life. Genevieve will be in touch with you soon. I'll be on the main stage on Saturday and Sunday late afternoon and our stand will be there on all three days, so do come along and say 'hello'.

I'm now off to an International Woman's Day party here in Burlington, Ontario. Yes, we are truly international.
